Istanbul Governor Vasip ?ahin has met with leading figures from the three main religions in the metropolis to obtain information on the activities of Turkey's Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities, the state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

A local court in Istanbul held a new hearing on Sept. 29 in a case opened upon a complaint from the leader of Turkey?s Armenian Patriarchate about a man who allegedly identified himself as a Prime Ministry inspector and then requested a bribe of 6,000 Turkish Liras. 

Twelve Armenians from Dersim, an older name of the eastern Turkish province of Tunceli, were baptized in an Armenian church in Istanbul on May 9, daily Agos has reported. The baptized group came from families who had concealed their Christian and Armenian heritage out of fear of social prejudice.

EU Minister Volkan Bozk?r will represent the Turkish government at a religious ceremony to be held at the Armenian Patriarchate on April 24 to honor the memory of Anatolian Armenians killed during World War I. The ceremony will be the first for the Armenian Patriarchate in Istanbul.

The Armenian Patriarchate in Turkey has welcomed a message of condolences by Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu over the killings of Armenians at the hands of Ottomans in 1915, just days before the ceremonies on April 24. 

The Armenian Patriarchate in Turkey has established a foundation under the name "Hovagim 1461," in order to formally acquire a legal personality.

The foundation is named after the first Armenian patriarchate Hovagim and the date when he was appointed to his position.

Main opposition Republican People?s Party (CHP) leader Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu will come together with the leaders of Turkey?s religious minority communities in Istanbul on Jan. 26.
