An incredible controversy about Cyprus is spreading between Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot state. The cartoon by local cartoonist Utku Karsu depicts a "landing ship" anchored at a Cypriot shore, bringing the island a group of criminals. The cartoon was first published in the "Kıbrıs" (Cyprus) newspaper of failed business tycoon Asil Nadir.

Asil Nadir set free in Turkey after being extradited by Britain
Turkish Cypriot businessman Asil Nadir, who was jailed in Britain in 2012 for stealing millions from his business empire, was set free on April 22, one day after he was extradited by Britain to Turkey.

Turkish Cypriot businessman Asil Nadir, who was jailed in Britain for stealing millions from his business empire, has been transferred to a prison in Turkey, state-run Anadolu Agency said on April 22.
Nadir was flown from London to Istanbul on the evening of April 21 after British authorities accepted his request to serve the rest of his sentence in Turkey, the agency said.

Commenting about George Vassiliou, the late Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf DenktaÅ said he was no different than other Greek Cypriot leaders; the only difference might have been his ability to make the nastiest remarks with a smiling face. âHe is a smiling devil⦠No different than the others,â he said. He was wrong.
