A court in Pristina on Monday released the former Democratic Party of Kosovo MP and former Kosovo Liberation Army commander Azem Syla, who is accused of organised crime and money laundering and has been in custody since 2016.

Kosovo Charges Former MP in Land Fraud Case
Kosovo's special prosecution on Tuesday filed two indictments for organized crime and money laundering against 22 and 17 persons respectively.
Both groups were allegedly led by Azem Syla, former member of the Kosovo Assembly from the ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, and a former commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA, during the 1998-1999 war.

Kosovo MP Facilitated Land Scam, EU Mission Says
"Small number of people we had to arrest as we believe they facilitated the land being stolen. One of those people is Azem Syla," Alan Edwards, EULEX Chief of Organised Crime Investigation Unit told BIRN TV show Justice in Kosovo.

MP Facing Corruption Charges Surrenders to Kosovo Police
Azem Syla, a prominent legislator of the governing Democratic Party of Kosovo, charged on Wednesday in an investigation into an alleged land scam, surrendered to the EU law mission, EULEX, and to Kosovo police on Friday morning.
Syla's defence lawyer Tome Gashi confirmed on Friday that his client had handed himself in to the police.

Kosovo Cracks Down on Property Usurpers
Police in Kosovo arrested six people as part of an investigation into an alleged land scam that cost the state 30 million euros, the prosecution office said on Wednesday.
Azem Syla, a prominent legislator from the ruling party, was the alleged leader of the fraud which is believed to have involved 40 people, the EU police mission in Kosovo said.
