Progress reached in Cyprus peace talks, says UN's special advisor

The special adviser of the U.N. Secretary-General (SASG) on Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, said after a meeting with Turkish Cypriot Leader Mustafa Ak?nc? on Nov. 24 that progress has been reached on a number of issues in recent peace talks. Eide was speaking a day before the two leaders from both sides of divided Cyprus were scheduled to meet in Nicosia as part of talks on Nov. 25. 

Police raid Koza ?pek's media headquarters in Istanbul

Police used water cannon and tear gas early Oct. 28 to enter Koza ?pek Holding's media group headquarters in Istanbul to implement a court order to seize control of the holding. Police and newly-appointed trustees later entered the main control room, causing disruption in the broadcast. The broadcast briefly went off air.

CHP deputy files question on 'SpongeBob' castle restoration in Istanbul

A Republican People?s Party (CHP) deputy has filed a parliamentary question about the controversial restoration of a castle dating back 2,000 years in Istanbul?s northern coastal district of ?ile, which has been criticized for resembling cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants.
