Olympic champion Urša Bogataj bags her 1st World Cup win ever
Linz – Reigning Olympic champion Urša Bogataj won the women’s Ski Jumping World Cup event in Hinzenbach, Austria, on Saturday in what is her first World Cup win ever. Her compatriot Nika Križnar also made it to the podium, finishing second.
Slovenia second in medals per capita at Beijing Games
Beijing – Slovenian athletes won seven medals at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, which puts the country second only to Norway in medals per capita. Overall, Slovenia ranks 15th among all countries on the Olympic medal table.
Team Slovenia won two golds, three silvers and two bronze medals, four of which in ski jumping, two in snowboarding and one in alpine skiing.
Slovenian Olympic athletes honoured with reception
Kranjska Gora – The Slovenian Olympic Committee (OKS) has hosted a reception for Slovenian athletes who have already returned from China, including medal-winning ski jumpers Urša Bogataj and Nika Križnar, and snowboarders Gloria Kotnik and Tim Mastnak.

Brdo pri Kranju – The Slovenian women’s ski jumping team, men’s basketball team, cross-country skier Anamarija Lampič and former para athlete and sports official Peter Ozmec are the recipients of the 2021 Bloudek Prizes, the highest national awards for current and lifetime achievements in sports.
Slovenian mixed ski jumping team wins gold at Beijing Olympics
Beijing – Slovenian ski jumpers Nika Križnar, Urša Bogataj, Timi Zajc and Peter Prevc won the gold medal in the mixed team normal hill event at the Winter Olympics on Monday to make history as the first nation to win the event in its Olympic premiere in Beijing.

Beijing – Slovenian ski jumpers Urša Bogataj and Nika Križnar made history at the Winter Olympics in Zhangjiakou on Saturday, as Bogataj has won the gold and Križnar won the bronze medal. It is the first time that more than one Slovenian athlete has made the Olympic podium in the same event.
Križnar wins last World Cup event before Beijing
Willingen – Nika Križnar won the last women’s Ski Jumping World Cup event before the Beijing Olympics after setting Slovenia’s national record at 151 metres in the sole series in Willingen, Germany, on Sunday.

Ski jumper Ema Klinec third in Willingen
Willingen – Slovenian ski jumper Ema Klinec finished third in a World Cup event in Germany’s Willingen on Saturday. Because of strong winds only the first round was carried out. The winner was Austria’s Marita Kramer, who also tops the overall World Cup rankings, while Germany’s Katharina Atlthaus was second.
