At the age of 72 the former director of the Historical Museum Prof. Bozhidar Dimitrov has assed.
In March 2017, he was admitted to a hospital with a suspicion of a heart attack.
Bozhidar Dimitrov was a long-time director of NHM, author of dozens of books devoted to Bulgarian history.
2,600-Year Old Stone Head of Apollo Donated To Bulgarian Historical Museum
A benefactor requesting anonymity has turned in a stone head - probably from a statue of Apollo - discovered in a potato field near the village of Alexandrovo, Stara Zagora district to the National Historical Museum (NHM).

5000 YO Golden Treasure on Display in National History Museum
A treasure of 15 000 golden elements was put on display on Monday in Sofia's National History Museum (NHM).
The pieces, which are presumably parts of three different necklaces, are dated at around 3000 BCE and were recently confiscated by the Agency for National Security (DANS) during an operation against attempted trafficking of cultural artifacts.
