Türkiye ranks first in Europe in agricultural income

Türkiye ranked first in Europe and was among the top 10 countries in the world last year in terms of agricultural income generated, Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı has said.

Türkiye's agricultural income amounted to $68.5 billion in 2025, said Yumaklı, citing data from the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Bank.

Wildfires rage across İzmir, surrounding regions

A total of 16 wildfires erupted in the western province of İzmir on June 29, with eight fires breaking out in forests and eight in rural areas.

Despite the ongoing battle, significant progress has been made in controlling and extinguishing the blazes.

Among the most affected areas were the Selçuk and Menderes districts, where fires spread rapidly due to strong winds.

Türkiye to create digital maps of water bodies

In a bid to better manage Türkiye's water resources, the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has initiated a project to create digital atlases mapping a total of 270 stagnant water bodies, including dams and artificial ponds currently being constructed.

These water resources will be digitized in a geographic information system (GIS) center.

Stray dog draft submitted to parliament: Minister

In a recent development regarding the contentious issue of stray animals, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that a draft legislation has been presented to the parliament.

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) unveiled a draft last week in response to the escalating incidents involving stray animals, some resulting in injuries.
