Ana Ivanovic in semifinals, Jelena Jankovic ousted

CINCINNATI - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic beat Ukraine's Elina Svitolina 6-2 6-3 at the WTA Cincinnati 2014 on Saturday to reach the semifinals.

Her next opponent will be Russia's Maria Sharapova, who beat Simona Halep of Romania 3-6 6-4 6-4.

Another Serbian contender, Jelena Jankovic, lost to Serena Williams of the US 6-1 6-3.

Tennis: Simona Halep runs for WTA Player of the Month

Romanian female tennis player Simona Halep, next Monday to become the worlds' No.2, runs for the title of the WTA Player of the Month and also for that of the WTA Rising Star Of The Month.

Competing for the WTA Player of the Month in July are Romania's Halep (22 of age), American Serena Williams, world's No.1, and Danish Caroline Wozniacki.

Wozniacki effortlessly through to 2nd round in Istanbul Cup

Top-seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark easily advanced to the second round of the Istanbul Cup, defeating Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 6-0, 6-0 on July 15.

Wozniacki allowed no hope for the 17-year-old, dubbed as the leading player in her age group, and finished with a “double bagel,” giving away no games.

Wozniacki plays down title talk, but aims to break jinx in Istanbul

Caroline Wozniacki says she is happy to be in Istanbul and will try to end her jinx in Turkey at the WTA Istanbul Cup.

The Danish tennis player has made several visits to Turkey as part of her commercial deal with the national flagship carrier, but her playing campaigns in Istanbul have been less than impressive.

Ivanovic and Jaksic through to Monterrey WTA semifinal

MONTERREY - Serbian female tennis players Ana Ivanovic and Jovana Jaksic qualified for the Monterrey WTA International semifinal in Mexico, the prize fund of which totals USD 500,000.

In the quarterfinal match, Ivanovic beat Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova, 6-1, 0-6, 6-2, while Jaksic achieved her biggest success in her career by defeating Julia Boserup of the U.S., 6-3, 6-0.

Jankovic through to Indian Wells quarterfinals

INDIAN WELLS - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic made her way into the quarterfinals of the premier WTA tournament at Indian Wells after beating Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-3, 6-1 late on Tuesday CET.

The Serb will next face either Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland or Alize Cornet od France.

The total prize money for the tournament is USD 5.94 million.

Jelena Jankovic reaches Indian Wells 4th round

INDIAN WELLS - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic reached the fourth round of the Masters 1000 Series tennis tournament in Indian Wells early Monday by beating Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 6-3, 6-2.

In her next match, Jankovic will face Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, who beat Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 7-6 (9-7), 3-6, 6-1.
