Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has announced the establishment of an artificial intelligence committee within the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the Industry and Technology Ministry.

Monetary and fiscal policies will be used in the fight against inflation, according to the statement released after the Economy Coordination Board (ECB) meeting.

The board, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, convened on Oct. 30.

The tolls for highways and bridges have been increased, the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) has announced.

The government's priority is to fight inflation, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has said, noting that revenue and expenditure policies that would restore fiscal discipline are being implemented.

Establishing price stability remains the top priority for the government, read a statement released after a meeting of the Economy Coordination board, adding that members of the board also discussed details of the key medium-term program to be announced later this year.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has vowed to tackle the "escalating cost of living caused by global crises," pledging to find solutions to alleviate the burden on the Turkish population.

Total earthquake-related spending this year will amount to 1 trillion Turkish Liras ($37 billion), Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said.

Earthquake-related spending from the central government budget will be around 762 billion liras, Yılmaz told reporters during his visit to the southeastern province of Gaziantep at the weekend.

Turkey must sustain its push on production and exports to prevent the economy falling into recession even as it fights inflation, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said on Friday. 

Since May elections, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government launched a U-turn away from unorthodox policies including interest rate cuts that had sparked a lira crisis and sent inflation soaring. 

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said there are strong demands from the labor and employer sectors on taxation and that he supports these demands, pointing to radical changes.

"This is an issue we should work on," Yılmaz said after meeting with representatives of the business world as part of preparations for the Medium-Term Program (MTP) to be announced next month.

The government aims to bring the inflation rate to down to single digits in 2026, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said, reiterating that the new medium-term program (MTP) will be unveiled in September.
