A bill ratifying International Monetary Fund quota increases for member-countries was approved in the Greek Parliament's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs on Tuesday, and was tabled in the plenary on Wednesday.

Deputy National Economy and Finance Minister Christos Dimas highlighted Greece's progress from 2019 to 2024 in a speech at New York University's Stern Business School.

Dimas reviewed Greece's recent economic performance, discussing the government's goals, challenges, and initiatives aimed at improving living standards, reducing unemployment, raising wages, and curbing tax evasion.

"Nobody is above the law," Economy and Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis has stressed, in the context of the spat between his ministry and taxi unions over the obligation of cabbies to inform passengers that fares can be paid by card.

The measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Thessaloniki International Fair were detailed by Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, along with Deputy Ministers Christos Dimas and Thanos Petralias.

The government is planning incentives for taxpayers who are consistent in their tax obligations and those who have included their arrears in debt settlement and repay them without delay. These bonuses are expected to be activated from 2025.

A "dialogue of civilizations" between Greece and China was held on Friday in Athens, with experts exchanging views on preservation of world cultural heritage sites.

Chinese archaeologists and scholars met for the "Dialogue of Civilizations between Liangzhu Ancient City and the Acropolis of Athens", which last year was held in Hangzhou, China.

As part of the state's effort to promote modern Greek culture, the Greek Film Center (GFC) is to implement five new financial programs to boost the local industry.

The programs will be bankrolled through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RFF), while just last week, the GFC approved financial support for 13 film projects to the tune of 1,262,000 euros.

The first Sino-Hellenic International Theater Festival kicked off on Saturday, with Chinese dramas bringing an audio-visual feast to the audiences.

"The festival is an amazing initiative. It is something that of course we fully support from the side of the Greek government," Christos Dimas, Greek Deputy Minister of Culture, told Xinhua at the opening ceremony.

The agreement on the program "Cultural and Educational Exchanges between Greece and India for the years 2022-2026" was ratified on Friday by the plenary of the Parliament.
