South Korean President Park Geun-Hye on May 21 selected her justice minister to become the new prime minister -- a post that has become something of a poisoned chalice under her administration.

South Korean President Park Geun-Hye finally got a new prime minister on her third attempt Feb. 16, despite claims by opposition lawmakers that her nominee was morally unfit for the office.
      
Lee Wan-Koo, a senior legislator from Park's ruling Saenuri party, was approved in parliament by 148 votes to 128 after a tortuous nomination process.
      

South Korean President Park Geun-Hye revamped her cabinet June 13, replacing seven ministers in response to intense criticism over her administration's handling of April's ferry disaster.

South Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-won has resigned amid criticism of the government's response to the April 16 ferry disaster.

The Sewol ferry sank off South Korea on April 16, with 476 people on board, most of them students and teachers from Danwon High School near Seoul, who had gone on a field trip, according to reports of the CNN.

Relatives of the people missing in the sunken South Korean ferry protested and clashed with police over the “slow” rescue operation. 

Police prevented up to 100 angry relatives marching from Jindo island to Seoul on Sunday.
