The Romanian educational system should be connected to the extremely dynamic developments of the digital area in order to ensure the premises of a competitive economy, President Klaus Iohannis told the attendees of the "Digital Romania International Forum" through a message which was delivered by Presidential Adviser Andrei Muraru.

The government approved on Wednesday technical and economic indicators for a strategic infrastructure development programmme for the Henri Coanda International Airport, under which a new passenger terminal is being built.

Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) is carefully and concernedly following the developments in the situation created at the border between Romania and Moldova and asking, "in the spirit of dialogue and co-operation that characterises the relationship between the two countries" for explanations on why Romanian citizens were not allowed to cross the border.

Bucharest, Aug 14 /Agerpres / - A request for the Chamber of Deputies to convene for an extraordinary session August 20-24 was submitted Tuesday to Parliament, floor leader of the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) Raluca Turcan said Tuesday.

The Center for Independent Journalism (CJI) condemns, and at the same requests the Romanian Gendarmerie, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) to swiftly look into and sanction the abuse made by the gendarmes, who, on Friday night, attacked journalists while they were doing their job, according to a press release published Monday on CJI's website.

President Klaus Iohannis said Monday about protests in Victoriei Square that Romanians know how to be civilised and do not deserve the labels received from "irresponsible" voices in politics.

Minister of Internal Affairs Carmen Dan said Saturday, at the seat of the Ministry, that the gendarmes will not report to the politicians, but that if required, she will present national security aspects related to Friday's anti-government rally at a meeting of the Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT).
