Defense Minister Panos Kammenos admitted in a press conference following his resignation statement Sunday, that only two other Independent Greeks lawmakers will follow him in voting against the government and the FYROM name deal.
The 7-strong parliamentary group, which has propped up the government majority of 152 in the 300-member Parlaiment is split.

On the defensive after seeing the coalition's majority reduced again this week, government officials on Wednesday branded an attempted attack on the office of a coalition MP as part of a scheme to destabilize the administration but were silenced when the anarchist group Rouvikonas took responsibility for the incident. 

The Rouvikonas anti-establishment group on Wednesday claimed responsibility for an attempted attack on the office of an MP with Independent Greeks, the right-wing party in Greece's left led-coalition.

It's interesting to see how the nationalism of neighboring countries almost by default results in a zero-sum game.

An MP of junior coalition partner Independent Greeks (ANEL), Costas Katsikis, sought on Wednesday to clarify that he was talking "hypothetically" when he proposed, in comments to Skai TV earlier in the day, exchanging the two Greek soldiers currently being detained in Turkey for the eight Turkish servicemen who fled to Greece in 2016 and whom Ankara wants extradited.

A deputy of Independent Greeks (ANEL), the government's right-wing coalition partner, has suggested the party could support a compromise solution over the name dispute with Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
