Supreme Court says average duration of court proceedings shortened
Ljubljana – The average duration of court proceedings decreased in the first half of this year compared to the pre-pandemic the first half of 2019, the Supreme Court said. Durations have however increased for certain types of cases, such as inheritance proceedings.

Ljubljana – A Slovenian literary classic that once aroused the interest of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios, the epic novel Under the Free Sun has now come out in a comic-strip format with the authors hoping to bring it out on stage and as an animated film one day.

Supreme Court president stresses importance of independence of judiciary
Bled – A two-day Conference of Chief Justices of Central and Eastern Europe, which focussed on the independence of judiciary at the institutional level and the level of judges, concludes in Bled on Tuesday. Supreme Court president Damijan Florjančič said new situations challenging this were emerging all the time.
Independence War success a result of multiple factors
Ljubljana – The ten-day war for Slovenian independence started on 26 June 1991, after the country declared its independence. The defence against the Yugoslav People’s Army was the result of good preparation for armed combat, appropriate tactics, high military morale, home ground, and local support, according to historians.
Days of Jožef Stefan kick off online
Ljubljana – Days of Jožef Stefan will kicked off online yesterday with Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) head Boštjan Zalar addressing the opening ceremony. Until Saturday several lectures and other events will be held to popularise science and honour the memory of the famous physicist that gave the name to Slovenia’s top research institute.
