Sofia: Changes in the COVID Measures before they are Introduced Tomorrow

The Minister of Health, Dr. Asen Medzhidiev, held a meeting with the Director of the Metropolitan Health Inspection, Dr. Dancho Penchev, in connection with the many questions received in the Ministry of Health and the Metropolitan Regional Health Inspectorate, regarding the anti-epidemic measures that are being introduced in the territory of the Sofia region - and city, as of August 4.

Sofia with New Covid Restrictions

New restrictions will be introduced in Sofia due to the increased growth of people infected with Covid-19, the head of the Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate Dancho Penchev told bTV.  From August 11, gyms, restaurants and theatres will operate with 30% capacity. The working hours of the establishments are limited from 6 am to 11 pm.

The malls, restaurants, schools, kindergartens, gyms and all cultural venues in Sofia and Sofia-region will be closed with 99 percent certainty, announced Head of the Regional Health Inspectorate - Sofia Dancho Penchev.

Bulgaria: Vaccination Sites Have Run Short of Vaccines within Hours

Again, lines are meandering outside vaccination sites in Sofia, which today have vaccines available. In the capital, "green corridors" work in the hospital "St. Ivan Rilski" and "Alexandrovska" hospitals, reported bTV.

Some people lined up as early as 8 a.m.

Older people from the queue were vaccinated with priority. Lack of organization, however, has created turmoil.

After the chaos in the vaccinating process in Bulgaria today authorities are trying to pay down the critics.

According to Dancho Penchev, director of Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate, told in March, everyone will be able to choose which vaccine to be immunized with.

"Sofia is again in the "red zone" after a new spike in the number of people infected with coronavirus. The situation is getting alarming and tense. What worries us is the gradual rise in hospitalizations," Dr. Dancho Penchev, Director of Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate (SRHI), told bTV.
