A French photojournalist detained in May by Turkish police while on assignment in the southeast has been deported, the French President's Office and activist group Reporters sans Frontieres said on June 9.

A French photojournalist who has been held in Turkey for a month saw his mother on June 8 for the first time since being detained in an "emotional" meeting near the Syrian border.
