Kosovo police arrested seven members of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo, PSD, after protesters tried to disrupt an event in Pristina organised by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, which they accuse of denigrating the Kosovo Liberation Army's wartime struggle against Serbian forces.

Pristina's mayor Shpend Ahmeti resigned from the main Kosovo opposition party, Vetevendosje, late on Wednesday, several months after he won his second mandate as its mayoral candidate - highighting serious internal problems within the party.

The opposition parties, who are against the planned new EU-backed special court because they believe KLA fighters were heroic liberators who should not be prosecuted, vowed on Monday to try to block an expected vote in parliament which would enable it to be established.
