Thousands of mourners filed past George Floyd's coffin on June 8 ahead of the African-American's funeral in his native Houston as a court set bail at $1 million for the white officer charged with his murder in a case that has sparked once-in-a-generation protests against police brutality.    

Ankara hails anti-racist protests in US

Turkey's ruling party spokesman on June 3 hailed demands for equality as anti-racist protests continue in the country after the killing of African-American man George Floyd. 

Turkey is against all groups trying to turn legitimate protests in the US violent and bring public order under their destructive influence, said Ömer Çelik, spokesman for the AKP, after a party board meeting. 

AHEPA condemns George Floyd killing, violence

The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) has condemned racial inequality in the United States following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of police in Minneapolis last week.

In a statement, AHEPA supreme president George G. Horiates also condemned violence and destruction amid protests over the killing.
