With praise and a blessing for the military, President Donald Trump helped hand over the USS Gerald R. Ford to the Navy on July 22 and said the state-of-the-art aircraft carrier will send a "100,000-ton message to the world" about America's military might when it is ultimately deployed.

You must have heard the phrase "back to the future." Nothing else could better describe my feelings while following the NATO summit in Brussels on May 25, which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also attended.

A year of unknowns
People made fun of it at the time, and long afterwards, but it's a nice way of expressing a very important distinction.
"As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don't know we don't know."
