Scenographer Radu Boruzescu on Thursday was awarded a honorary doctorate by the I.L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC) of Bucharest at an event at UNATC's Ileana Berlogea Hall before a large audience.

The first guests arrived to Mokra Gora yesterday - celebrated Italian director Paolo Virzi, French director of photography Michel Amathieu, Chinese-Canadian film director Johnny Ma, a French-Russian-Kazakhstani chess grandmaster Vladislav Tkachiev and director Karim Aïnouz.

The 60th annual Thessaloniki International Film Festival, one of the biggest cinematic events in the Balkans, opens on October 31 with a screening of Noah Baumbach's American comedy-drama "Marriage Story" at the flagship Olympion Cinema.

The Greek National Opera presents two movie suites by Manos Hadjidakis at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center on March 1 and 2. The first is the "The Martlet's Tale," a soundtrack penned by the great Greek composer for the 1970 film of the same title directed by John Crowther, which received such poor reviews at its San Francisco preview that it was never released.
