The Grexit age is over as Grimbo takes over

Citigroup economist Ebrahim Rahbari was the one who came up with the term Grexit back in February 2012. Back then, they felt that there would be a 50% risk for Greece's exit from the Eurozone over the coming 18 months and 90% until 2014. The use of the term rocketed in 2015, with the addition of more terms such as Grexident and Grexodus.

Citigroup Inc. economist Ebrahim Rahbari is again trying his hand at etymology.

In February 2012, he coined the term "Grexit" to describe the risk of Greece leaving the euro area. At the time, he and his fellow economists at Citigroup put the probability at 50 percent within the next 18 months and later raised it to 90 percent by 2014.

European politicians may be poring over the details of the rescue program but a small business on the other side of the Atlantic sees their customers multiplying, since their service is actually called “Grexit”.

 

Based in Palo Alto, California, a tech company called Grexit has seen an important “rise” in traffic to their website.
