Türkiye marks 101st anniversary of republic with celebrations

The nation celebrated the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic's founding on Oct. 29, with festivities held in cities across the country.

In the capital Ankara, streets and squares were adorned with Turkish flags, and citizens paid homage to modern Türkiye founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk by visiting Anıtkabir, his mausoleum.

No free ferries to Princes' Islands on public holidays

Ferry services to Istanbul's Princes' Islands will charge regular fares on public holidays to control visitor numbers, diverging from the usual free transportation policy applied to all 39 districts of the metropolis.

The decision was revealed during an assembly meeting of the Princes' Islands' municipality chaired by Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat.

Türkiye appoints new environment, health ministers

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appointed new health and environment ministers in a minor reshuffle of his cabinet early on July 2.

According to the country's official gazette, Murat Kurum will replace Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Mehmet Özhaseki, who has tendered his resignation over "health reasons."
