As part of Türkiye's endeavor to contribute to recycling and reduce its waste burden, the Zero Waste Foundation was established, and efforts have commenced to create a global fund for this purpose, First Lady Emine Erdoğan has announced.

The Zero Waste Project, which aims to reduce the volume of non-recyclable waste, has achieved an economic gain of 96 billion Turkish Liras ($3.7 billion), Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Minister Mehmet Özhaseki has said.

The U.S electric car maker Tesla has scheduled first deliveries of its vehicles for Turkish customers in May.

The company started to collect pre-orders for vehicles on April 4. Tesla will sell three versions of its Model Y in Türkiye.

The combined sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles increased by a strong 61.7 percent in March compared with the same month of 2022, the Automotive Distributors' and Mobility Association (ODMD) has said.

While marking the marking International Day of Zero Waste, observed for the first time on March 30, first lady Emine Erdoğan has expressed that if thousands of children are still losing their lives in different parts of the world due to drought caused by climate change, there is not a minute to be lost to stop this situation.

Effective and concrete steps are needed at the global level to fight the climate crisis, Turkish first lady Emine Erdoğan said on Jan. 17 and called on foreign envoys in Ankara to act together in this bid.
