Abazovic called on the Special State Prosecution to investigate his claim, adding that members of the Belivuk crime group had visited Montenegro despite prohibition orders.

The value of the drugs in the illegal market amounts to 65 million euros.

According to Enis Bakovic, a high ranking official of the Montenegrin police, the Panamamian-flagged ship Remus was stopped last week near Italy's waters on suspicion that narcotics were being smuggled aboard the vessel.

Montenegrin police have launched night-time patrols, raids and security checks on the streets of Podgorica after a series of car bombs and attempted murders in the capital as a result of clashes between rival drug gangs.
