Jailed main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy Enis Berberoğlu will be tried at an Istanbul appeals court on Dec. 1, after a local court controversially revoked a ruling from the appeals court for his retrial.

An Istanbul court on Nov. 7 rejected an appeals court order to retry main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy Enis Berberoğlu, ruling to maintain his 25-year jail term.

Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has once again called on the country's Constitutional Court to release its jailed lawmaker Enis Berberoğlu. 

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Enis Berberoğlu, who has been jailed since June in an Istanbul prison, was taken to the hospital late on Sept. 21 and is expected to undergo an operation next week.

Berberoğlu was taken to the hospital from Maltepe Prison where he is currently serving his sentence on charges of espionage.

Three main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) members have been referred to the party's disciplinary committee after drinking alcohol during the "justice congress" in August at the historic site of the Battle of Gallipoli in the western province of Çanakkale. 

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) is "not alone against the government's understanding that polarizes society and constrains citizens in an 'us vs. them' dilemma," CHP head Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said.

Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu claimed on Aug. 27 that President Tayyip Erdoğan is "afraid" of him. In an interview with AFP, Kılıçdaroğlu vowed that he and his party would not be deterred by pressure from Erdoğan.

The answer is both yes and no.

Three party members who consumed alcohol at the main opposition Republican People's Party's (CHP) "justice congress," ongoing at the historic site of the Battle of Gallipoli in the western Turkish province of Çanakkale, will be expelled from the party, spokesperson Bülent Tezcan has stated. 

"We are all thirsty for justice," main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said on Aug. 26 in his welcoming speech at the "Justice Congress" in the western Turkish province of Çanakkale. "We want it for all 80 million people in the country; we all want to live in peace."
