Turkish police mark 179th anniversary of foundation
The Turkish police force has marked the 179th anniversary of its establishment, with leading chiefs of the organization holding an official ceremony at the mausoleum of modern Türkiye's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Commencing from the beginning of the week, the country's 81 provinces are witnessing official ceremonies for the anniversary.
Eskişehir governor appointed as police chief
Erol Ayyıldız, the governor of the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir, has been appointed to the position of General Director of Police.
According to the decision, Ayyıldız was chosen to fill the vacant post following the appointment of former police chief Mehmet Aktaş as deputy interior minister.

Two killed in car bomb attack in Turkey's İzmir
A car bomb attack in the Aegean province of İzmir near the courthouse killed at least two people on Jan. 5, the İzmir Governor has announced.
Governor Erol Ayyıldız said one of the victims was a police officer while the other was an employee at the İzmir courthouse, adding that around seven people were also wounded and two militants were killed.

Workers go on strike at İzmir's main suburban rail company
A total of 340 workers from İZBAN, a commuter rail system connecting the western province of İzmir's suburban area to the metropolitan area, went on strike on Nov. 8 due to disputes in collective bargaining talks with their employers.
