Greetings! So, yesterday, the “day after” PASOK’s first ballot, the atmosphere inside felt like Verdi’s “Requiem“. The general disappointment from the outcome isn’t just limited to Pavlos and Anna’s camps, but also to their 130,000 voters. While that’s significantly more than Androulakis’ 90,000 or Doukas’ 65,000, unfortunately, they ended up “split” in two and failed.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis contacted the newly elected MEP Freddy Beleri in jail, on Monday, to congratulate him on his election in the European Parliament for his New Democracy party. 

Beleri, who is the elected mayor of Himara, was sentenced to two years in jail after an Albanian court found him guilty of corruption charges.

New Democracy lawmaker Evangelos Meimarakis has given up his parliamentary seat ahead of European Parliament elections in May.
In a letter to House speaker Nikos Voutsis Thursday, Meimarakis said he would not make use of a recent amendment which allows MEP candidates to retain their seats in the Greek parliament.
The seat will be filled by Zoi Rapti.

New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced Sunday that Evangelos Meimarakis, his former rival for the leadership, will lead the party's effort in the elections to the European Parliament, in May 2019.

Mitsotakis had narrowly defeated Meimarakis for the top party post in January 2016.

Mitsotakis' announcement came on the last day of New Democracy's 12th Congress.

The President of major opposition party New Democracy (ND), Kyriakos Mitsotakis, unleashed a harsh attack against the current government on all fronts during his speech at the official inauguration of his party’s new headquarters in Moschato.

Newly elected leader of New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis said to journalists ND parliamentary group will probably convene on Thursday.

Mr. Mitsotakis also said he will have a meeting with former party leader Evangelos Meimarakis and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, while he underlined that his priority is the restructuring and renewal of the party.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a former Administrative Reform Minister, on Sunday narrowly won a vote determining the next leader of conservative New Democracy party.

This comes after Samaras stepped down as New Democracy chair on July 05, following a resounding "No" in a referendum called by the government of Alexis Tsipras on new bailout conditions proposed then by international lenders.

The two candidates for the leadership of New Democracy, Vagelis Meimarkais and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, sent their final message to ND’s supporters with less than 24 hours to go before the polls open.

The conservative main opposition New Democracy (ND) party’s seasonal celebrations are overshadowed by the lack of a party leader. Without a TV debate in store, the two candidates are soldiering forth with daily duels aimed at convincing party members that they will make the best man for the job:
