Turkey should immediately recall ambassador to UAE after FM’s remarks: CHP head

Ankara should immediately withdraw its ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) until the country’s foreign minister apologizes for his remarks accusing Fahreddin Pasha, a Medina governor and commander of the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, of “ransacking” Medina in 1916, main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Dec. 21 said United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al- Nahyan was “spoiled by oil money” after the minister accused Fahreddin Pasha, a Medina governor and commander of the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, of “ransacking” Medina in 1916.
