The death of a suspected outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militant at a police headquarters has been debated in parliament, with Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Filiz Kerestecioğlu asking Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu how he died.

The Kurdish issue-focused HDP started its watch on Aug. 1 in Kadıköy's Yoğurtçu Park after spending a week in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır. 

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) lawmakers Faysal Sarıyıldız and Tuğba Hezer Öztürk have been stripped of their statuses as members of parliament in a parliamentary voting on the grounds that they failed to attend parliament for a long time.
 

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmakers have staged a protest in the parliament, arguing they had not been given enough of the floor to speak during parliamentary discussions for a by-law amendment draft.

Turkish author, translator and women's rights activist Şirin Tekeli died at the age of 73 in the Aegean province of Muğla on June 13, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Tekeli had been suffering brain cancer for a while in Muğla's Bodrum district. 

Tekeli's body was sent to the Çapa Medical Faculty to be used in medical researches.   

The Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) will hold an extraordinary congress on May 20 to fulfill its legal procedures and elect a new co-chair to replace the jailed Figen Yüksekdağ, who lost her parliament seat in February and party membership in March after being sentenced to 10 months in jail on terror-related charges. 

As the hunger strike of two former educators dismissed through state of emergency decrees has reached its 62nd day, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Filiz Kerestecioğlu has sent letters to Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland and Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muizniek to raise awareness on the issue. 

Police on April 6 intervened in a sit-in staged by a group of lawyers demanding the release of arrested colleagues in the daily Cumhuriyet case at Istanbul's Çağlayan courthouse, detaining eight of them.
