Open-air film nights in Ayvalık
Seyir Association (Eye Society- For all watching occasions), which organizes the Ayvalık International Film Festival every year, kicks off the season with the Open Air Film Night Series to be held between June 24 and July 2.
A series of 10 films selected from world festivals will be screened in the seaside garden of the New Ayvalık Municipal Building (former Tax Office).

The French Film Festival (FFF) in Romania celebrates 25 years of existence with an anniversary summer edition that will take place July 1 - 11 in 12 cities across the country.
Turkish film ‘Ghosts’ bags two awards at Casablanca festival
Written and directed by Azra Deniz Okyay, "Hayaletler" (Ghosts) returned with the "Best Director" and "Best Actress" awards from the Casablanca Independent Film Festival, which ended on Feb. 2.

Swedish director winner of 70th Cannes Festival
It was not a great festival. Among the 19 features selected for the competition in Cannes, there were quite a number of "mediocre" films, besides some good films. I had three favorites: "Loveless" by Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev, "Happy End" by Austrian Michael Haneke and "The Square" by Swedish director Ruben Östlund.

UNIQ Istanbul and Başka Sinema (Another Cinema) are jointly organizing a new festival this summer, the UNIQ Open-air Film Festival.
