Coffee is a way of communication. It stimulates conversation, no doubt about it. It also makes you think faster, evokes ideas and prompts new prospects. Sometimes, even a sip of coffee brings forth an instant project, sometimes unexpectedly. This is what exactly happened a few weeks back in Barcelona when talking with a food researcher colleague, Sırma Güven.

Ban on pomegranate sauces on the way
The sale of artificially flavored pomegranate sauces that give the impression of pure pomegranate syrup will be banned in Türkiye as of June 30, 2024.
On March 24, the regulation amending the Turkish Food Codex prepared by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry was published in the Official Gazette.

Beşiktaş claims 2-1 narrow win over Sivasspor
Beşiktaş bagged a narrow win against Demir Grup Sivasspor by 2-1 at home in a Oct. 2 Turkish Süper Lig match.
In minute 32, the Black Eagles' Turkish forward Güven Yalçın scored a fantastic right-footed volley in Istanbul's Vodafone Park, following his teammate Valentin Rosier's cross from the byline.
Sivasspor goalkeeper Muammer Yıldırım did not move.

Robot actor Aypera welcomes guests at Contemporary Istanbul
Turkey's first robot actor Aypera took the stage at the Contemporary Istanbul art fair, telling the visitors her story.
"Hi! I am Aypera. I am a digital human," she says in video footage being played at the exhibit's Plugin section that focuses on new media and digital arts. "I wonder about the world and humankind. I do not have a body like you."
Court releases arrested former HDP lawmaker
A Turkish court on June 8 ruled in favor of releasing former opposition lawmaker Leyla Güven from prison.
Güven, who was stripped of her legislative immunity and arrested last week, had been sentenced to six years and three months for being a member of an "armed terror organization."

Four bootleg booze makers to serve 16 years in jail
Four bootleg booze makers have been sentenced to 16 years in prison on murder charges for illegally producing and selling alcohol which caused a number of deaths six years ago in the northwestern province of Bursa.
