Gaia

The quest for peace

"In the beginning there was only Chaos, the Abyss. But then Gaia, the Earth, came into being… From the Abyss were born Erebos and dark Night. And Night, pregnant after sweet intercourse with Erebos, gave birth to Aether and Day…" Placed before Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey," Hesiod's "Theogony" begins with Αbyss, Erebos and Chaos. At the end, Zeus introduces Peace, Law and Justice.

Ancient Greek origins of Mother’s Day

Modern

Modern history traces the origin of Mother’s Day to the UK and the United States in the late 19th century, however the roots of the Spring festival celebrated on the second Sunday in May stem back to antiquity. Ancient Greeks held an annual spring festival to honor Rhea, the Titan daughter of Gaia, the earth goddess and sky god Uranus.
