First participants announced for this year's biggest music conference in the Balkans

Customs officer Georgi Gospodinov keeps a vigilant eye out for unusual cargo at Bulgaria's Kapitan Andreevo border crossing, a critical checkpoint in the fight against migrant trafficking to Britain. Despite being over 150 kilometers from the nearest sea, Gospodinov and his colleagues have become instrumental in thwarting smugglers' attempts to transport migrants across the English Channel.

Georgi Gospodinov's poetry book "There, Where We Are Not" (2016) has been nominated for the prestigious French Malarmé Prize for translated poetry. The Bulgarian writer shared the news on his Facebook publication, BTA reported.

"Artificial Intelligence" with 45%, "sglobka" (assemblage) with 37%, and "time shelter" with 35% of the votes are the standout words and expressions for 2023 in Bulgaria. This was the decision of those who participated in the annual "Words of the Year" survey on the literacy platform "kaksepishe.com".

Georgi Gospodinov's acclaimed novel, "Time Shelter," has been integrated into the curriculum of New York University's contemporary novels course, confirmed by the Bulgarian Consulate General in New York.

The course, helmed by Margaret Boe Birns, an expert in contemporary world literature and award-winning teaching, focuses on new literary works by emerging and renowned authors.

"The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the USA is stronger than ever". This was said by Kenneth H. Merten, the newly appointed American ambassador to Bulgaria, during an event organized by the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria and led by the president of the organization - Solomon Passy.

The writer Georgi Gospodinov will be a guest at the Spring Book Fair today. He will meet his readers from 18:00 p.m. at the Janet-45 publishing house stand in front of the National Palance of Culture (NDK).
