Mimis Plessas: Final farewell to Greece’s great composer
Family, friends, colleagues, artists, and the general public are gathering at the First Cemetery of Athens to pay their respects to the great composer Mimis Plessas, who passed away on October 5, just before turning 100.

With a career spanning five decades, much-loved Greek singer Yiannis Parios is scheduled to perform two concerts in Piraeus and Athens this month. This first will be at the Veakio Theater in Piraeus on Thursday, September 5, and the second at Theatro Petras in the northwestern Athens suburb of Petroupoli on Saturday, September 14.

Enduring Greek musicians Giorgos Katsaros and Mimis Plessas band together for a performance at the Papagou Garden Theater. Katsaros, a seasoned saxophonist, and Plessas, the respected pianist, will be joined on stage by Lena Alkaiou and Nikos Karagiaouris in a celebration of the two veterans' impressive careers. The concert begins at 9 p.m., and tickets start at 13 euros.
Giorgos Mouzakis Tribute | Athens | March 5
The Athens Concert Hall pays tribute to Giorgos Mouzakis (1922-2005), a prominent Greek trumpet player and composer who penned more than 2,000 tunes for stage and screen, including some of the most memorable songs of the Greek revue in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
