Aida | January 8-10

The Christmas Theater cultural program will be streaming a performance of Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" from the historic La Scala theater in Milan on its website from January 8-10, with Greek subtitles. The four-act tale of love, rivalry, betrayal and, most importantly, rebellion, was first performed in December 1871 in Cairo and then made its European premiere at La Scala in February 1872.

‘Aida’ on Ankara stage

One of the biggest productions of the State Opera and Ballet (DOB), 'Aida' opera, authored by Giuseppe Verdi, will be staged in Ankara for he first time on Oct 19 at Congresium. The opera tells the story of love between the Roman Commander Radames and the captive Abyssinian Princess Aida.

La Traviata | Athens | July 27, 28, 30 & 31

"La Traviata" tells the story of Violetta, an ill-fated French courtesan who falls in love with an unlikely man, set to music by 19th-century composer Giuseppe Verdi. Director and choreographer Konstantinos Rigos makes his operatic debut this summer with the Greek National Opera in a production to be staged at the Herod Atticus Theater on July 27, 28, 30 and 31.

La Traviata | Athens | January 18

The Athens Concert Hall is screening Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata" live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York at 7.55 p.m. on Friday. The richly textured new production by Michael Mayer is conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin and stars soprano Diana Damrau as the tragic heroine, Violetta, and tenor Juan Diego Florez returns as Alfredo, Violetta's hapless lover.

Simon Boccanegra | Athens | January 19-26

The Greek National Opera presents a revival by Rory Fazan of a Royal Opera House production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Simon Boccanegra," which was first staged in London on November 12, 1991. Directed by the legendary Elijah Moshinsky, that production was inspired by the art and architecture of Renaissance. For the revival, Fazan works with set designer Michael Yeargan and costume designer Peter J.

The Athens and Thessaloniki concert halls will be screening the Metropolitan Opera's production of Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata" this weekend, conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin and directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer. Soprano Diana Damrau plays the tragic heroine, Violetta, and tenor Juan Diego Florez is Alfredo, her hapless lover.

Arias & Duets | Athens | December 1

Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska and Greek baritone Dimitris Platanias join forces in a show at the Athens Concert Hall celebrating Giuseppe Verdi and the Verismo movement in opera, with emblematic arias and duets from the Italian composer's works. They will be accompanied by the Athens State Orchestra, conducted by Miltos Logiadis. The show starts at 8.30 p.m.

The Athens and Thessaloniki concert halls will be broadcasting the Metropolitan Opera's production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" live at 7.55 p.m. sharp on Saturday, October 6. In this monumental production directed by Sonja Frisell, soprano Anna Netrebko sings her first Met Aida, with mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili as Amneris and Aleksandrs Antonenko as the warrior Radames.
