Eskişehir governor appointed as police chief
Erol Ayyıldız, the governor of the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir, has been appointed to the position of General Director of Police.
According to the decision, Ayyıldız was chosen to fill the vacant post following the appointment of former police chief Mehmet Aktaş as deputy interior minister.

Demand for rental housing rising fast
The number of people looking for a rental house surpassed those who look for a house to buy, according to recently published data.
Figures provided by the real estate platform Emlakjet showed that in May 52 percent of those out in the real estate market are looking for a house to rent. In April, this was 50 percent.

As demand has weakened, some property owners are reducing their asking price in an attempt to find a buyer.
Prices of houses offered on the market for sale have declined by 5 percent, daily Milliyet reported.

Former Turkish footballer arrested over FETÖ links
Former footballer Zafer Biryol, who was wanted for "being a member of an armed terrorist organization," has been caught in an operation against FETÖ's "football structure" in Istanbul's Büyükçekmece district.
He was found to attend the FETÖ's meetings, visit Fethullah Gülen, the ringleader of the organization, in 2006 and have an account in Bank Asya, a FETÖ-linked bank.

Eid holiday gives boost to e-commerce
The Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, which usually increases domestic tourism activity, has also helped boost sales on e-commerce platforms in Türkiye.
Online shopping rose around 30 percent, with sales of certain items, such as deep freezers and tires, increasing significantly, said Hakan Çevikoğlu, head of the E-commerce Enterprises Association (ETİD).
