Hürriyet releases statement on row over report

A story that was published on daily Hürriyet's first page on Feb. 25 with the headline "Seven Answers to Seven Criticisms" was penned based completely on an institutional "briefing" by the Turkish General Staff upon questions from the daily's Ankara representative, Hande Fırat, according to a statement from the newspaper.

Military makes statement on debate over Hürriyet report

Turkey's military has made a statement on a recent debate over a report in daily Hürriyet that was also heavily criticized by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. 

The military said on Feb. 28 that recent "unfounded and ill-intentioned" criticism toward Chief of Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar aimed at casting a shadow on the Turkish Armed Forces' (TSK) struggle against terrorism.

CNN Türk, journalists receive 'information and democracy' award

CNN Türk, its Ankara representative Hande Fırat, and daily Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi have received the "Information and Democracy Award" for their critical role in countering the July 15 coup attempt, at the 33rd National Informatics Congress held by the Turkish Informatics Society (TBD) and launched on Dec. 8 by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım. 

Golden Butterfly Awards recognize best of Turkey's TV and music world

The 43rd Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards were presented on Nov. 13 at a ceremony held at Istanbul's Zorlu Center PSM, rewarding the best of Turkey's television and music world. 

The award winners were selected with the votes of readers of daily Hürriyet, and the ceremony was broadcast live on Kanal D and CNN Türk.
