Military makes statement on debate over Hürriyet report
Turkey's military has made a statement on a recent debate over a report in daily Hürriyet that was also heavily criticized by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The military said on Feb. 28 that recent "unfounded and ill-intentioned" criticism toward Chief of Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar aimed at casting a shadow on the Turkish Armed Forces' (TSK) struggle against terrorism.

CNN Türk's Fırat appointed Hürriyet's new Ankara bureau chief
The Ankara bureau chief of CNN Türk, Hande Fırat, has been appointed as the new Ankara bureau chief of daily Hürriyet, replacing Deniz Zeyrek who had been serving as the Ankara representative since late 2013.
Fırat had been serving as CNN Türk's bureau chief since 2010.
CNN Türk, journalists receive 'information and democracy' award
CNN Türk, its Ankara representative Hande Fırat, and daily Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi have received the "Information and Democracy Award" for their critical role in countering the July 15 coup attempt, at the 33rd National Informatics Congress held by the Turkish Informatics Society (TBD) and launched on Dec. 8 by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.
Golden Butterfly Awards recognize best of Turkey's TV and music world
The 43rd Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards were presented on Nov. 13 at a ceremony held at Istanbul's Zorlu Center PSM, rewarding the best of Turkey's television and music world.
The award winners were selected with the votes of readers of daily Hürriyet, and the ceremony was broadcast live on Kanal D and CNN Türk.
