Athens mayor seeks to shut down nightclub after teenagers hospitalized

Athens Mayor Haris Doukas on Wednesday recommended the permanent closure of a nightclub on central Vouliagmenis Avenue for serving alcohol to minors.

The club's management has been accused of serving bootleg liquor to minors during a school party last Saturday, during which eight students aged 14 to 17 had to be hospitalized with alcohol poisoning. 

Harsh criticism from Haris Doukas’ circle against Androulakis and Diamantopoulou: PASOK’s choices don’t reflect unity

Haris Doukas has issued strong criticism against the leadership of PASOK regarding the party’s internal “reshuffle” and its parliamentary group. Through his associates, Doukas emphasized that the choices made by PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis “unfortunately do not convey a sense of unity and fail to promote the necessary collaborations and compromises.”

PASOK announces re-elected leader’s key associates

The socialist PASOK party on Monday announced a nine-member coordinating committee to join recently re-elected party leader Nikos Androulakis in key posts. 

The committee line-up includes Athens Mayor Haris Doukas, who was defeated in the runoff eight days ago, as well as Pavlos Yeroulanos, placed third in the first round, and long-serving party member Anna Diamantopoulou. 

Athens municipality to combat mess made by contractors in roadworks

The Municipality of Athens announced on Thursday that it will take measures against mess made by contractors in sidewalk and road works.

According to the municipality, joint teams from the municipal police and the regular police will now carry out inspections to identify potential violations.
