Military vehicle accident kills 2 soldiers
A collision between a military vehicle and a truck in the Central Anatolian province of Konya has killed two soldiers and wounded two others.
A military van belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces collided with a truck from behind on the Konya-Adana road, where there was heavy fog, on early Jan. 4.

Underwater excavations unearth 255 artifacts this year
The ongoing excavations and research works in the seas of Turkey, where the world's first scientific archeological underwater excavations were carried out, have unearthed 255 artifacts this year alone.
Human traces dating back 14,000 years found in İzmir
Archaeological excavations carried out in a cave in the Dikili district of İzmir have unearthed 14,000-year-old stone tools and bones from the Late Paleolithic (Epipalaeolithic) period.
Turkish and German scientists, who carried out the works in the area, revealed that the cave was also used as a cult center dedicated to the mother goddess Kybele.

Turkish soldier killed in northern Iraq terror attack
A Turkish soldier was killed in a terror attack in northern Iraq when an improvised explosive device planted by terrorists went off, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said on Oct. 28.
The attack occurred in the Operation Pençe-Yıldırım zone on Thursday and killed Turkish soldier Harun Çalışkan, the ministry said in a statement.

Wreck of historical warship with unknown flag found off İzmir
Turkish academics express excitement over the discovery of a warship, which is believed to have sunk in the 18th century and whose parts are widely scattered, off the coast from Foça in the Aegean province of İzmir.
The sunken warship is the latest in a long line of ships that have been found in the underwater excavations of the area.
