ISIL threatens to kill Japan hostage, Jordan pilot in 24 hours

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) threatened Jan. 27 to kill a Japanese journalist and a Jordanian pilot within 24 hours unless Amman frees a jailed female militant.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) threatened to kill two Japanese hostages unless Tokyo pays a $200 million ransom within 72 hours, in a video posted on jihadist websites on Jan. 20.

Japanese man feared kidnapped by Syrian militants

Japan's government said Monday it was investigating a video posted online that appears to show a kidnapped Japanese man being roughly interrogated by Syrian militants.
      
The video, which surfaced over the weekend, shows a man who identified himself as Haruna Yukawa lying on the ground with blood trickling down his face as his apparent captors question him.
