A Turkish court handed down jail terms to 131 members of the FETÖ following their trial, a judicial source said on Jan. 22.

A court in the capital Ankara sentenced former police intelligence chief Ramazan Akyürek to 45 years in prison, while his ex-deputy Gürsel Aktepe received 27 years.

Six police officers were arrested in Turkey on Aug. 22 as part of an ongoing wiretapping investigation in which hundreds of officers have been detained or removed from their posts in recent months.
      

At least 25 officers have been detained in raids conducted as part of an investigation led by the İzmir Prosecutor’s Office over wiretapping claims.
