Egyptian archaeologists unearth 7,000-year-old lost city
The Antiquities Ministry of Egypt announced Wednesday that archaeologists have discovered an ancient city and cemetary dating back to Egypt’s First Dynasty in the southern province of Sohag.
The discovery was made across the Nile from present day Luxor, only 400 metres away from the temple of Seti I, a New Kingdom period memorial.
Egypt court quashes Morsi life sentence
An Egyptian appeals court on Nov. 22 quashed one of two life sentences handed down to Mohamed Morsi since his 2013 overthrow, in the Islamist ex-president's second appeals victory in a week.
Morsi's lawyer and a judicial source confirmed the verdict from the Court of Cassation, Egypt's highest judicial authority.

An Egyptian appeals court has overturned a death sentence handed down against ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in one of four trials since his 2013 overthrow, a judicial official said, according to AFP.

Egypt freezes assets of anti-torture NGO
Egyptian authorities have frozen the assets of a prominent human rights group that works with torture victims, the head of the organization said on Nov. 10.
The move came months after authorities tried on two separate occasions to shut down the El Nadeem Centre for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture and Violence.
