Galatasaray swoops for West Ham winger Sofiane Feghouli

Galatasaray has signed West Ham United winger Sofiane Feghouli on a five-year contract for 4.25 million euros ($5 million), the Istanbul club announced on Aug. 14.

The 27-year-old Algeria international spent one season at West Ham after joining the Premier League club on a three-year deal from La Liga side Valencia last year.

Galatasaray coach, chairman under fire after humiliating defeat

Galatasaray coach Igor Tudor and chairman Dursun Özbek faced growing calls of resignation on July 21 following the Istanbul club's humiliating exit from the European competition.

Galatasaray was eliminated from the UEFA Europa League after drawing 1-1 and losing out on a 3-1 aggregate to Swedish newcomer Östersund late on July 20.

Istanbul's Başakşehir swept aside title contender Galatasaray 4-0 on April 10 to continue its pursuit of leader Beşiktaş in a match that was marked by veteran striker Emmanuel Adebayor's stunning hat trick.

Coach Abdullah Avcı's charges remained within touching distance of Beşiktaş, which beat a strong Trabzonspor 4-3 on April 8.

Tudor set for first test with Galatasaray

Spor Toto Super League club Galatasaray will travel to Çaykur Rizespor on Feb. 18 for its first test under new coach Igor Tudor.

The former Croatian international left his post at Karabükspor and signed a one-and-a-half year contract on Feb. 16 to replace Dutch coach Jan Olde Riekerink.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Tudor said he was aware of the pressure awaiting him.
