Azerbaijan ruling party wins polls

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev's party has won snap parliamentary elections, the poll commission announced Monday.

Aliyev had called Sunday's snap legislative election ahead of schedule to avoid the poll coinciding with the COP29 climate conference that Baku is to host on November 11-22.

Turkish, Azerbaijani FMs hold key meet amid Caucasus peace talks

Turkish and Azerbaijani foreign ministers, Hakan Fidan and Ceyhun Bayramov, held a key meeting in the Turkish capital Ankara on Aug. 27 to discuss their countries' ongoing separate talks with Armenia for the normalization of their relationships.

Bayramov came to Ankara for a one-day visit and met his Turkish counterpart, Fidan.

Azerbaijan Seeks Membership in BRICS Following Putin's Visit to Baku

Azerbaijan has formally announced its intention to join the BRICS group, following a visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Baku. The South Caucasus nation aims to become a member of the BRICS bloc, which originally began in 2009 with Russia, China, India, and Brazil and has since expanded to include Iran, Egypt, South Africa, Ethiopia, and the UAE.

 Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on Sunday for a two-day state visit, TASS news agency reported.

Serbia-Azerbaijan commission on trade and economic cooperation meets in Baku

BAKU - A Serbia-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation held its eighth session in Baku on Thursday.

At the meeting, a protocol was signed and agreements were reached in the business, infrastructure, energy, agriculture and cultural sectors.
