Vice President Iliana Iotova is planning meetings with scientists, employers' organisations and the non-governmental sector, she said in an interview with Focus News Agency when asked if she would propose initiatives to tackle the demographic crisis, having presented alarming data at a press conference.

By 2030, 42% of this country's population is expected to live in 6 cities - Sofia, Plovdiv, Ruse, Burgas, Varna and Stara Zagora. At the same time, a village disappears every month, Smolyan is the region with fastest shrinking population in the EU.

''We all are to be winners if until 2018, when Bulgaria would hold the EU presidency, all parties focus on the national consensus'', Vice President Iliana Iotova has said, BNR reported.  

According to her, a large coalition and a very serious opposition are emerging in the National Assembly, and his was a prerequisite for a successful mandate.

Toma Tomov opened the first session of the 44th National Assembly, BNR reported.

The people's deputies were sworn in for the sake of the Republic of Bulgaria and committed to abide by the the Constitution of the country and its laws, and to be guided by the national interest in all their actions.

''It is very important to keep our good relations with Turkey'', said caretaker PM Ognyan Gerdzhikov to journalist, BNR reported.

He expressed his hope that Turkey would comply with its commitments to the international organizations after the referendum held.

In an interview for Nova TV Bulgarian and quoted by BNR the Vice President Iliana Iotova said that Bulgaria was a guarantor of the security on the European Union outer border and should stick to European policies in its relations with Turkey.

It is time for European Union to revise the agreement with Turkey, said Bulgarian Vice-President Iliana Iotova, reported Focus News.

'First of all, the agreement between Turkey and EU have not achieved the results that were sought in the beginning', underlined Iotova.

Vice President Iliana Iotova has fended off claims that the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is wielding influence on the presidency.

In an interview with private NOVA TV, however, she has warned one cannot expect of her to "give up the BSP overnight."

"Twenty of my best years are linked to the BSP," Iotova, a former MEP and core BSP member, has recalled.

Bulgaria's new President Rumen Radev will include secretaries on issues such as anti-corruption, the rotating EU presidency due next year, spirituality and culture, and science, his press office says.

The EU Presidency portfolio was not part of the team of Rosen Plevneliev, who formally left the office on Sunday.
