Bucharest, May 26 /Agerpres/ - European Commissioner Corina Cretu, who runs in the elections to the European Parliament on the Pro Romania list, on Sunday stated, upon her exit from the polling station, that she voted while hoping for a new beginning. "I voted hoping in a new beginning. I am glad to be part of the Cluj-Napoca organisation.

Prime minister Victor Ponta has accepted on Thursday the resignation of Transports minister Ioan Rus.

Transportation Minister Ioan Rus will meet European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport Violeta Bulc on Thursday in Brussels; Romania's Transport Master Plan and current topics of the EU transportation policy are on the table.

The government on Wednesday passed a memorandum regarding Romania's General Transport Master Plan, a document establishing that the total investments needed will reach up to 45.45 billion euros until 2030 for such road, rail, maritime and air infrastructure projects, Minister of Transportation, Ioan Rus, made the announcement at the Victoria Palace.

The project of the motorway linking Comarnic to Brasov (north of the capital) will go on if the authorities manage to restructure it, namely to find a financial model to be more efficient for the Romanian budget, in the achievement of which such international financial institutions as the EIB and the EBRD should take part, Transport Minister Ioan Rus told AGERPRES on Saturday.

Romania plans to build around 725 km of new highways and 1,809 km of express roads in the next 15 years, spending around 28.6 billion euro on expanding the country's poor road infrastructure, the Transport Ministry announced in its new "Master Plan".

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Friday said in Targu Jiu (northwest of Bucharest) that he has chosen the County of Gorj for his first day of campaign because he owes it to the inhabitants of Gorj and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) branch here for the support they gave him in 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections, when he was elected deputy.
