In Pomorie, a protest by local wine producers saw a motorcade of tractors, harvesters, and cargo trucks take to the streets in response to new requirements set by the Ministry of Finance.

Pomorie remains without electricity after yesterday's powerful storm that uprooted trees, brought down roofs of hotels and private homes and flooded the streets of the seaside town.

Mayor Ivan Alexiev declared a state of emergency, which will remain until Monday, BNT and bTV reported.

The director of the State Investment Company Ivan Alexiev and the Board of Directors will be relieved of his post, said the Health Minister Stoycho Katsarov during a hearing at the National Assembly.

After the Smokinya North Beach in Sozopol Municipality (southeastern Bulgaria) has been ploughed up for a second year in a row, outraged local residents have alerted the competent institutions. Photos and videos showing a tractor levelling the beach were circulated on social media at the end of last week.

The hospital in Pomorie closed its doors at the beginning of the week. The medical establishment, which serves the neighboring municipality of Nessebar, stopped taking patients and canceled all planned operations. The staff have not received salaries since April, and that is the reason doctors to leave. 

Those who have not left yet protest in front of the hospital.
