Aussie star Hewitt inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame

Lleyton Hewitt, a two-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on July 16, a ceremony delayed from 2021 by COVID-19.

Hewitt won the 2001 U.S. Open and 2002 Wimbledon titles among 30 career ATP triumphs and helped Australia capture the Davis Cup in 1999 and 2003.

Karlovic ousts Tipsarevic from Tokyo

TOKYO - Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic has been knocked out the Tokyo ATP tennis tournament after losing to Croatia's Ivo Karlovic 7-6 (11-9), 7-6 (7-5) in the round of last 16 Thursday.

In a bid to reach the semi-finals, Karlovic will face Frenchman Gael Monfils, who beat compatriot Gilles Simon 6-1, 6-4.

Tipsarevic overcomes Japan's Daniel, to face Karlovic

TOKYO - Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic has got off to a successful start at the Tokyo ATP tennis tournament after beating Taro Daniel of Japan 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday.

Tipsarevic won after 82 minutes of play and will next face Ivo Karlovic of Croatia, who beat Argentine Federico Delbonis in the first round.

Tipsarevic and Karlovic are 1-1 head-to-head.

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov Reaches Semifinals in Istanbul

The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the semifinals of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open.

It took him slightly less than one hour and twenty minutes to reach his second consecutive semifinal in Istanbul.

In a match from the third round played on Friday, Dimitrov defeated Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic with 7:6 (1), 6:1.

Bulgaria's top male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov suffered a heavy defeat and was ousted in the first round of Roland Garros on Tuesday.

Dimitrov was defeated by Jack Sock from the USA with 6:7 (7), 2:6, 3:6, failing to achieve a break, daily Dnevnik reports.
