"West won't like Serbia's military cooperation with Russia"

Political Sciences Professor Ivo Viskovic believes Aleksandar Vucic's Moscow visit in the beginning of a new phase in relations between Serbia and Russia.

In addition, he stressed that he expects the reaction of the West to the strengthening of military cooperation between Serbia and Russia "not to be quite benevolent at first."

"Every detail of PM's Russia trip will be considered"

In Serbia's place, no EU country would act any differently towards Russia, against whom the U.S. and the EU have imposed sanctions over the conflict in Ukraine.

This is what Faculty of Political Sciences professor Ivo Viskovic told RTS, noting that economic ties between Serbia and Russia are so strong it would be suicidal for Belgrade to undermine these relationships willingly.

"U.S. to suggest to Germany to allow opening of chapters"

It can be expected that the U.S. will suggest to Germany and other EU members to let up, and give Serbia a chance to open chapters in membership negotiations.

This is according to Faculty of of Political Sciences professor Ivo Viskovic, who added that the visit of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to Washington is "very important."

Serbian PM's Berlin Visit Will Focus on EU

Ivo Viskovic, a former Serbian ambassador to Germany, says Vucic's meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday will focus on Serbia's EU integration process.

According to him, Serbia can expect German help on its path to EU membership. "This help would be mainly of an advisory and economic character through stimulating German investment in Serbia," Viskovic told BIRN.
