Turkey's efforts to reveal the truth behind the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi avoided a cover-up of the incident by the kingdom, Turkish Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gül has said.

The killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the kingdom's Istanbul Consulate was "planned and perpetrated by Saudi officials," the UN special rapporteur said on Feb. 7.

The U.N. human rights investigator leading the international inquiry into the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi on a visit to Turkey has said she embarked on the trip at her own initiative as there has been no signal that the "U.N. intends to demand officially or implement an international criminal investigation."
